Let’s spruce up your day

In honor of Tu B’Shvat and centuries of Jewish humor, the Chronicle now brings you a locally written muse on trees, well-rooted in dad jokes and cringe. Good luck.

Let us honor Tu B’Shvat as a time of renewal, where planting new trees reminds us of new life and a new beginning. Our wooden cousins teach us: Don’t be board; instead, go against the grain.

Go out on a limb. Try to understand. Branch out, and don’t get stuck in a splinter group. If you’re in business, consider a branch office, or a role on the board. Get to the root of the matter and stop barking up the wrong tree! Don’t be a sap – being short-sighted could leave you stumped.

We are Jews, so let’s end with a question: if a Seder is necessary for Passover, should a cedar be necessary for Tu B’Shvat? There is Jewish humor in just about every holiday except Tu B’Shvat. It has been neglected, so let’s water it.
