Cornell University sophomore from Madison has been named to the Bronfman Fellowship’s Campus Commons program, a national leadership initiative for Jewish college students. Talia Richmond, who studies economics and history/art history at Cornell, is among 35 students selected from 30 campuses.
The semester-long program, which began with an in-person seminar Nov. 13, is designed to help students address polarization. Participants will engage in discussions on pluralism, conflict management, and communication, and receive mentorship to develop campus initiatives. The program also includes monthly online sessions and concludes with a certificate in relationship building across differences.
Richmond is active in academic research, Jewish leadership, and interfaith initiatives at Cornell.
The Bronfman Fellowship, based in New York, launched Campus Commons earlier this year as part of its effort to foster dialogue and leadership among Jewish students.
