Retired anesthesiologist seeks kidney donor

Arthur Davidson, a retired anesthesiologist who’s lived in Mequon for over 40 years, is seeking a living kidney donor.

Davidson, 72, is in the final stage of kidney disease after years of living with high blood pressure. Last December, he was placed on the transplant list at St. Luke’s Medical Center. He’s currently trying to avoid dialysis.

“The most common causes are high blood pressure and diabetes. There are a tremendous number of people in this country that aren’t aware they have kidney disease,” said Davidson.

According to his Facebook post, Davidson feels he’s had many opportunities to give back to his community. He practiced anesthesiology for over 30 years, caring for patients during various medical procedures. Now, he’s in the position of needing to receive rather than give.

“It’s difficult sometimes, because I don’t like asking for things.”

Davidson chooses to have a positive outlook on life despite his condition, committed to taking things “one day at a time.” He embraces the idea that whatever happens will happen, and that feeling good in the moment is enough.

Anyone interested in giving Arthur Davidson the gift of life by donating a kidney can call 404-200-4111 or email ASLMC-LivingDonor@aah.org. Those reaching out via email are requested to include his name in the message.
