Barbara Stefanie Bradbury

Barbara Stefanie Bradbury of Glendale died Jan. 1, 2018. She was 76.

She was born Feb. 11, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York. Barbara was predeceased by loving husband Theodore Bradbury in 2017. Dear mother of Gregory (Rachel) Bradbury, Marjorie (Matthew) Laing, and the late Sabrina Bradbury. Adoring grandmother of Dan and Hannah Bradbury; Alexander and Ryan Laing; Tessa Bradbury.

Graveside services held on Jan. 3, 2018 at Greenwood Cemetery, 2615 W. Cleveland Ave., Milwaukee. Memorials to Lawlis Family Hospice,13111 N. Port Washington Road, Mequon, WI 53097. Burial held at Greenwood Cemetery with Rabbi David Cohen, with Blane Goodman Funeral Home.

Bernice B. Cohen

Bernice B. Cohen died Jan. 13, 2018. She was 87.

She was born Jan. 29, 1930 in Milwaukee to Max and Rebecca (nee Ginsberg) Askotzky. In 1949, Bernice married Albert M. Cohen. She was an excellent cellist and attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison on a music scholarship. She played in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra for several years. Bernice enjoyed cooking and baking and took great joy in knitting and crocheting items for her family. Bernice lived for her family and was very proud of her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bernice is survived by her children, Sandra (Simon) Margulius of Brown Deer; Joel (Jill) Cohen of Middlebury, Indiana; Gary (Kathleen) Cohen of Mequon,  Marla (Al) Hoffman of Fond du Lac; and David (Dawn) Cohen of Green, Ohio. She is further survived by her grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren (with more on the way). She is also survived by her brothers Philip (the late Sally) Askotzky and Melvin (Elaine) Askotzky, and her sister, Laila (Sheldon) Rosen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Al, and granddaughter Marisa Cohen.

Funeral services were Jan. 21 with Goodman-Bensman and Spring Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation are appreciated.

Richard A. Kramer

Dr. Richard A. Kramer of Milwaukee died Oct. 24, 2017. He was 89.

Richard was born Jan. 15, 1928.

Richard’s family moved to Sheboygan in 1942 and he graduated from North High School in Sheboygan in 1945. Richard’s undergraduate work was at University of Wisconsin – Madison, with medical school and education at Madison, New York University and elsewhere.

He was a neuro-radiologist and served as chief radiologist at Palo Alto Medical Clinic. He was a clinical associate professor at Stanford University School of Medicine, past chairman of the Department of Radiology Palo Alto Medical Foundation and fellow of the American College of Radiology.

Richard enjoyed skiing, traveling, lawn bowling and photography.

He is survived by spouse Carolyn; son Ronald (Kim); daughter Linda; grandchildren Hannah, Abby, Sara and David; sister Barbara Kahn (Irving) and brother Dr. Donald Kramer (Judy).

Burial was in Bend, Oregon.

Jerome “Jerry” Lewis

Jerome “Jerry” Lewis of Fox Point died December 16, 2017. He was 88.

He was born March 3, 1929 in Milwaukee. Predeceased by first wife Lita Lewis, then second wife Barbara Brown.

He attended Washington High School and served in the Korean War. Jerome was a long-time co-owner of Goldmann’s Department Store until the store closed in 2006. He was owner of Mitchell Street Menswear from 2006 until his death. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include son Michael (Elizabeth) Lewis; Philip (Kerri) Lewis; grandsons Keaton and Wyatt Lewis; further survived by many relatives.

Jerry thought the right clothing made people feel good about themselves and in this way he felt he made the world a better place. His ability to connect with people and his genuine caring for others is what built him a loyal following of customers and a wide circle of friends.

A graveside service was held at Agudas Achim Cemetery Dec. 20, 2017. Memorial contributions are welcome to The American Cancer Society.

Lowell Schmidt

Lowell Schmidt of Milwaukee died Nov. 21, 2017. He was 74.

Survivors include sister Natalie (the late Albert) Borenstein, nieces and nephews Linda (David) Hopkins, Steve (Sandy) Borenstein, Barbara (David) Meister, Sheldon Schmidt, Neil (Sue) Borenstein, Robert (Linda) Schmidt, Richard Schmidt and Mark (Amelia) Schmidt.

Lowell was born March 21, 1943 in Milwaukee. Burial on Nov. 24, 2017, was at Beth HaMedrosh Hagodel Cemetery.

Marian June Weinberg

Marian June Weinberg died Jan. 3. She was 99.

She was born on June 10, 1918 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of Abraham and Sadie Myers. She had an older brother Alfred.

Marian received her B.A. from the University of Cincinnati. As the wife of Rabbi Dudley Weinberg, she and her husband settled in various locales, most notably Boston and Milwaukee, where Rabbi Weinberg guided overflowing congregations until his passing in 1976.

Marian was an award-winning pianist and an accomplished visual artist. In her fifties, Marian earned a master’s degree in psychiatric social work at University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and maintained an active counseling practice for a decade.

She is preceded in death by her son Avrom and survived by her children Myra and Jonathan, by daughters-in-law Ruth Ann Weinberg and Judith Rissman, and by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, 2020 West Brown Deer Road, River Hills on Jan. 7.  Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery, 2615 W. Cleveland Ave., Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to something that will make the world a kinder and more loving place.
