Hillel Academy Jewish day school recently received a gift from the Shopko Foundation to assist in funding supplies for their Intergenerational Visitation Program, according to a news release from the school.
This marks the fourth year of the program. All the middle school grades participate in visiting residents of the Jewish Home & Care Center and Chai Point Senior Living.
The visits include activities centered around Jewish holidays; activities that coincide with curriculum in the students’ literature, history and arts classes, and solidify concepts that they are learning; as well as activities that encourage collaboration and foster leadership skills and community involvement among the students.
