The Green Bay Press-Gazette on Nov. 2 published a feature article about the creation of a new Chabad Lubavitch facility in the city.
The building, a former church, is being converted into the home of Chabad of the Bay Area. It includes a mikvah (ritual bath) and a sanctuary large enough for 100 people.
The director of the operation, Rabbi Michoel Feinstein, told the newspaper that a building dedication ceremony is planned for the Chanukah season.
Feinstein also said the Green Bay area Jewish community numbers about 2,000 people. At present, the city has one other synagogue, Congregation Cnesses Israel, founded in 1898 and now led by Rabbi Shaina Bacharach.
