Lisa Blatt

Lisa Cheryl Blatt of Arlington, Texas, died of complications from cerebral palsy on May 28. She was 53.

Blatt attended Nicolet High School in Glendale and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In 2003, she relocated to Arlington, Texas to be near her sister, Suzanne (Michael) Kapin.

“Despite a lifelong struggle with cerebral palsy, Lisa Blatt was well known wherever she went,” her family said in a statement. “Whether it was tooling down the halls in her wheelchair at Nicolet High School or on the streets of Lincoln Park in Chicago, her smile and warmth always shined through.

“She endeared herself to all of her friends, family, and caregivers over the years through her kindness, caring and optimism. Her indomitable spirit and zest for life were an inspiration to everyone who knew her.”

In addition to her sister, Blatt is survived by sister Lonnie Post of Glendale; brothers Howard (Nancy) Shimon of Mequon and Jack (Helen) Shafton of Glen Ellyn, Ill.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. Graveside services were officiated by Rabbi Joseph Prass at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery on May 30.
