Sanford C. Meisel

Retired Janesville merchant Sanford C. Meisel died July 4 of pneumonia. He was 81.
A native of Janesville, he grew up in Milwaukee. He graduated from West Division High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he returned to Janesville to operate The Hub Clothing Co. with his brother, Gilbert Meisel.

He was a member of Congregation B’nai Abraham in Beloit. He enjoyed tailoring, woodworking and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Meisel (nee Schwartz); daughters Marsha (Allan) Mood of Janesville and Ann (Ed) Gallagher of Beaver Dam; brother Gilbert Meisel of Milwaukee; and seven grandchildren.

Rabbi Shlomo Pontos officiated at the funeral on July 7. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
