Native Milwaukeean Philip J. Siegal died Nov. 18. He was 85.
A graduate of Washington High School, he served in ground support for the 247th Fighter Squadron in North Africa and Europe during World War II. After the war, he attended Marquette University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
He worked as a certified public accountant for his own firm, then for BDO Seidman and Towne Realty. He was a member of the Wisconsin Association of Certified Public Accountants.
He was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and Congregation Agudas Achim Chabad, serving as treasurer for each synagogue at different times. He also belonged to many other Milwaukee Jewish organizations.
He enjoyed golf at Brynwood Country Club and spending time with his family.
According to his daughter, Debra (Stuart) Gold of Chicago, he was “the family archivist,” amassing photographs and home movies, and had a home “filled with collages of family pictures and books of pictures.”
His wife, Ruth Siegel (nee Malavsky), died in 1996. In addition to Gold, he is survived by sister Sara Gallas of Milwaukee; son Alan (Barbara) Siegel of Ft. Myers, Fla.; daughters Barbara (Steve) Goldstein of Cupertino, Cal., and Judith (Alan) Leichtner of Boston; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Rabbi Isaac Lerer officiated at services on Sunday, Nov. 21. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.
