Longtime Milwaukean Mathilda Luff (nee Fried), a resident of Glendale, died May 15 of natural causes. She was 98.
Born in Cleveland in 1905, she came to Milwaukee in 1922. Her husband, William Luff, preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a member of the Badger Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Jewish National Fund, Hadassah-Milwaukee Chapter, NA’AMAT USA and Women’s American ORT. According to her family, she enjoyed working for the Milwaukee Jewish Children’s Home in her younger years.
Her family added, “She loved books, theater, travel, family and bridge, when her eyesight was good, and she was a wonderful cook, baker and homemaker.”
She is survived by daughter Dorothy (Al) Meyers of Milwaukee; daughter-in-law Phyllis Luff of Whitefish Bay; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Rabbis Jay Brickman, David Cohen and Leonard Lewy officiated at graveside services May 19 in Anshai Lebowitz Cemetery.
The family would appreciate memorials to the Congregation Sinai Building Fund or the Badger Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired.
