Manitowoc native Isadore Schwartz, 94, died there Nov. 9 of natural causes.
A graduate of Lincoln High School in 1927 and the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1931, he did post-graduate work at Marquette University. He owned Koutnik & Schwartz Shoe Store in Manitowoc.
He served his synagogue, Anshe Poale Zedek, as president and vice president; was a member of B’nai Brith for more than 50 years; and belonged to the Manitowoc Masonic Lodge, Shrine Club and Elks Club. In addition, he enjoyed playing the violin, according to his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Schwartz in 1991, and son Michael (Sandra) Schwartz.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol Schwartz of Mequon; brothers Milton (Bess) Schwartz of Manitowoc and Lester Schwartz of Ripon; sister-in-law Carolyn Schwartz of Manitowoc; a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
Rabbi Sidney Vineberg officiated at graveside services Nov. 10 in Second Home Cemetery.
