Irving A. Lore

Graveside services were held April 14 for Milwaukee attorney Irving A. Lore. He died of natural causes on April 11 at age 88.

Born in Milwaukee, he graduated from North Division High School, the Milwaukee State Teachers College (the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s predecessor) and the UW-Madison law school. He practiced law in Milwaukee for about 55 years.

He was a former member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and served on its board. He chaired the civic division of the Milwaukee Jewish Welfare Fund (the former name of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation) for many years.

He also served on the boards of the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Community Foundation and the Milwaukee School of Engineering. According to his family, he was honored by the National Conference for Community and Justice (formerly the National Conference of Christians and Jews).

His wife, Clarissa (nee Lerner), died in 1999. He is survived by daughters Nancy (Stephen) Einhorn of River Hills and Eileen Gosman of Whitefish Bay; brother Martin M. Lore of Atlantic Beach, N.Y.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rabbi Shlomo Pontos officiated at the graveside service in Greenwood Cemetery.
