Food, music, social justice and Judaism will all take center stage during this year’s Levy Summer Series.
The Levy Summer Series gives people the chance to learn by interacting with scholars, artists and leaders about Jewish topics.
Each program is being held at the Nakoma Golf Club in Madison, and is $30, including lunch and the presentation.
Reservations are required and must be made one week before each program.
Tuesday, June 9
Jordan Rosenblum
Professor Rosenblum will discuss his book “Forbidden,” explaining the history and relationship between Jews and the pig.
Wednesday, June 24
Rabbi Paula Winnig
Winnig will speak about how women’s involvement in Jewish life has influenced Judaism and the world.
Wednesday, July 8
Jonathan Pollack
Pollack, a writer will talk about being Jewish at University of Wisconsin-Madison through the lens of athletes, coaches and physical-education professors.
Wednesday, July 29
Rabbi Daniel Swartz
Swartz will discuss how faith and justice come into the climate crisis, and the role that Jews have in resolving it.
Tuesday, Aug. 11
Samantha Abramson
Abramson, the executive director of the Holocaust Education Resource Center in Madison, Wisconsin, will discuss her experiences with growing antisemitism and the lack of understanding for the Jewish identity.
Tuesday, Aug. 25
Cantor Jacob Niemi
Cantor Niemi will examine how music from temple, camp and beyond shape tradition, memory and identity.
