Rabbi Adams chairs Lux Center board

The Lux Center for Catholic Jewish Studies at Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology has elected Rabbi Steven Adams as chairman of its Leadership Board. Adams, a longtime advocate for Jewish-Catholic dialogue, brings decades of pastoral experience and interfaith leadership to the role.

A Chicago native, Adams earned degrees from the University of Illinois and Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion, where he received rabbinic ordination and later a Doctor of Divinity. He serves as director of pastoral care at Ovation Communities and has led programs on Israel, Holocaust remembrance, and Jewish education.

“It is an honor and privilege to help promote understanding between our faiths based on knowledge and dialogue,” Adams said. “The Lux Center is a leader in this effort.”

Dr. Charles Hughes Huff, associate professor of scripture studies at Sacred Heart Seminary, was elected vice chair. He is known for his scholarship in biblical interpretation and his contributions to Catholic formation.

The Lux Center, inspired by Nostra Aetate, fosters education and partnerships between Catholic and Jewish communities through programs that deepen understanding and combat prejudice.
