Arin Kornblet published a book

In August, Arin Kornblet, Glendale resident and baker at the local Friendship Circle Cafe and Bakery, became a published writer with the release of his book, “How to Get and Keep a Job,” a handbook for those looking for a job, inspired by Kornblet’s decades of experience as a person with disabilities in the workplace.

“It started out as a journal because I was beating my head against the wall because I kept losing jobs. I figured that if I wrote it down, I would realize what the rules were,” Kornblet said. Kornblet has a learning disability and lost vision in his right eye. “Not every business wants to hire people with disabilities,” Kornblet said.

The book, 59 pages long, is a compilation of short sections written over several years on different aspects of applying for and keeping a job based on Kornblet’s experiences.

Since 2017, Kornblet has been working as a baker for the Friendship Circle Cafe and Bakery. “He’s the brownie guy,” Kornblet’s mother, Ellie, said. “Since he started baking there, he’s been making all the brownies, so they named them after him.” Also, “’I’m a chocoholic at heart,” Kornblet said. Customers can find packaged brownies with Kornblet’s name on them at the cafe, 8649 N Port Washington Road, in Fox Point.
