MILWAUKEE – Kai Yael Gardner Mishlove will be the new director of advocacy and alliances for Milwaukee’s Jewish Community Relations Council, according to its executive director, Roberta S. Clark.
Working under Clark’s strategic direction, Mishlove will develop and nurture partnerships and alliances with communities and agencies throughout the region to build awareness of and advocacy for our diverse Jewish community, according to a press release. Mishlove begins in her new role on June 1.
Mishlove brings a tremendous portfolio of experience working with community organizations, particularly Jewish agencies, according to the release. She recently stepped down as the executive director of Jewish Social Services in Madison and once served as the executive director of the Milwaukee Jewish Community Relations Council.
The Milwaukee Jewish Community Relations Council is a program of Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
“I am thrilled to be returning to the Milwaukee JCRC and Milwaukee Jewish Federation in this new role, and for the opportunity to work alongside Roberta, who has built a national reputation for her work advocating for Jewish communities across the US,” Mishlove said.
“As we continue to grow our work in public affairs and community engagement, Kai was a natural choice,” said Clark. “She’s known for her strong advocacy work, her interfaith and intercommunity work, and her ability to create meaningful connections. Her knowledge and skills will be an enormous asset to our efforts to combat antisemitism as we enhance and increase allyship throughout the community. We are — and I am — excited to welcome her back in this new role.”
This critical new position is partially funded by the Robert and Jennie Chortek Charitable Fund whose legacy will continue, through the important work of building alliances and advocacy for the Jewish community, according to the news release, which was issued by Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
The mission of the Milwaukee Jewish Community Relations Council is to speak as the representative of the Milwaukee Jewish community on issues of public affairs and public policy by convening and mobilizing the Jewish community through education, advocacy, social justice and support for Israel.
