As a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, I was shocked to hear about UWM Chancellor Mark Mone’s “agreement” that disturbed and angered much of the Jewish community. It echoes the same problems we have here at Harvard University where university president Claudine Gay was over-coached and so concerned about free speech that she spoke as a bureaucrat rather than from the heart in what should have been outrage over the genocide of Israelis at the Gaza border.

She was forced to leave, and a task force on antisemitism was set up. I have been a consultant to that task force. I am certain it will lead to more sensitivity to antisemitism on campus, more courses on the history of Zionism and Israel as well as on the Holocaust and genocide, and increased safety for Jewish students.
