Tehila Cohen (at left) lived in Israel and Rabbi Shari Shamah lived in Milwaukee, when the pair met nearly ten years ago for the first time in Poland. They were both educators for a young adults program by JCC Global, called Amitim. Walking in the old city of Krakow together, they chatted about how they had sons the same age who loved Legos. Years later, the Cohen family moved from Jerusalem to Milwaukee and the boys wound up in class together at Milwaukee Jewish Day School. When Milwaukee Jewish Day School took their eighth-grade class on a Jewish Heritage trip to Krakow in May, the boys took a photo there to mimic a shot that Tehila Cohen and Shari Shamah had posed for in 2015 – before the boys knew each other or lived in the same country! It’s a small Jewish world and the boys, Itiel, at left, and Rabbi Shari’s son Yoni, still love Legos!
