The CEEBJ Band will perform at its first-ever “Shabbatpalooza” worship service on Friday, January 12, 7 p.m., at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, 2020 W. Brown Deer Road, River Hills.
The service will be in the style of the shul’s former Torahpalooza services that it held from 2004 through 2013, said Cantor David Barash.
The community is invited to see the synagogue’s in-house band featuring Dan Dance on piano, Andrea Goetzinger on tuba, Gillian Hitchcock on clarinet, Gary Kavalar on alto sax, Jean Lauterbach on French horn, Barbara Levin on alto sax, Michael Levin on oboe, Oscar Sorvick on bass, Laura Straus on flute, Michael Taibleson on trumpet, and Pam Treisman on English horn.
Rabbi Jessica Barolsky and Cantor Barash will lead the service. Cantor Barash will conduct the band, and Dan Dance has arranged compositions of melodies including Hava Nashira by Josh Nelson, L’cha Dodi by Craig Taubman, Mi Chamocha by Richard Silverman, Mi Shebeirach by Lisa Levine, and Salaam by the group Sheva, as well as many others.
Additional dates for Shabbatpalooza will be Friday, March 15 and Friday, May 17 at 7 p.m.
