The High Holy Days will give members and guests at Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha a chance to worship with its past and present spiritual leaders.
Rabbi Steve Adams and cantorial soloist Arlene Spanier will lead the Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur services this year, having been contracted to do so before the congregation hired Cantor Deborah Martin to be its new spiritual leader.
Adams announced to the congregation in March that he would be leaving after serving the synagogue for 16 years. He accepted the position of director of pastoral care at the Jewish Home and Care Center.
Spanier has been returning to Waukesha to help lead High Holy Days services the past few years after moving to Texas. She has been on the bima for such services for approximately 25 years.
Martin for the past 24 years served Temple Beth El in Madison before starting her position in Waukesha on July 1. She will be leading children’s services. She also will be leading the Selichot service on Sept. 5.
