JMM partners with SHARP Literacy

Jewish Museum Milwaukee has partnered with SHARP Literacy, Inc., to be included in SHARP’s outside-of-the-classroom educational program.

SHARP is a non-profit organization that delivers an educational literacy program to 7,000 elementary-age students in 31 of Milwaukee’s most at-risk schools.

This school year, SHARP is bringing 1,400 third grade students from 25 different schools to JMM for docent-led tours through April. This is the only broad engagement the museum has with elementary age students.

Designed to enhance standard school curriculum, the program utilizes visual arts, art history and hands-on learning, giving students the opportunity to improve reading, writing and researching skills.

In addition to the in-school curriculum, SHARP also incorporates outside-the-classroom experiences with tours of several Milwaukee-area museums.
