‘Passover Food Drive’ collections to begin

Food donations for the “Community Passover Food Drive” will be collected March 8-25 at several sites, including the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.

The following products, which must have kosher for Passover certification, are needed: Matzah, gefilte fish (cans preferred), chicken soup/matzah ball mix and grape juice. These will be supplemented with other Passover items.

In 2014, Passover food items or grocery store gift cards were given to more than 700 individuals and families.

Monetary contributions will be used to purchase food items or gift cards. Make checks payable to “Jewish Community Pantry” with the notation “Community Passover Campaign.”

Mail checks to Dorene Paley, Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, 6255 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Milwaukee, WI 53217.

Volunteers are needed, and families are welcome, on Sunday, March 29, 9:30-11 a.m. or 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m., to sort and distribute food. For further details, contact Rabbi Shari Shamah at 414-967-8229 or SShamah@jccmilwaukee.org.

The distribution will take place 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on March 29 at the Jewish Home & Care Center, Rubenstein Pavillion, 1410 N. Prospect Ave.

The Community Passover Food Drive is a joint effort of: Coalition for Jewish Learning and Jewish Community Relations Council, programs of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation; the JCC; Hillel Milwaukee; Jewish Community Pantry; Jewish Family Services; Jewish Home and Care Center; Rabbi Scheinfeld Maos Chitim Fund; Salinsky Program to Feed the Hungry; Tikkun Ha-Ir of Milwaukee; and Wisconsin Council of Rabbis.

A complete list of collection sites will be available March 3 at MilwaukeeJewish.org.
