Music, dance and more are January Chai Point offerings

          Chai Point Senior Living will inaugurate 2015 with diverse and educational programming in January.

          The New Year starts with a performance by the duo Jazz Friends — keyboardist Sam Steffke and vocalist/bassist Debi Kossoris — on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2 p.m.

          Rabbi Steve Adams of Congregation Emanu-El of Waukesha will inaugurate a new series on Monday, Jan. 5, 2:45 p.m., focusing on “Prominent Bible Women.” The first and the second program on Monday, Jan. 19, will focus on “The ‘First Ladies’ — Lilith and Eve.” The program will continue meeting on the first and third Mondays of the months through June.

          “The Dance Experience,” a series of monthly dance classes presented by Danceworks! Inc., continues on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 1:30 p.m. The style of dance will vary from month to month.

          World renowned performers Yuri (violinist) and Daniel (pianist) Beliavsky return to Chai Point for a classical music performance on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2 p.m.

          Jack Edelstein, president of Crown Hardware and Plumbing, tells the history and story of this Milwaukee icon on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 3 p.m.

          On Thursday, Jan. 15, 3 p.m., Dr. Rachel Baum, professor of Jewish and Hebrew Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee begins her film series on the Jewish view of love and marriage.

          On Sunday, Jan. 18, 2 p.m., Wisconsin-based author Erika Janik discusses the history of Wisconsin, with a humorous twist. She is the author of “Madison: A History of a Model City;” “A Short History of Wisconsin;” and “Odd Wisconsin: Amusing, Perplexing and Unlikely Stories from Wisconsin’s Past.”

          Soma Intimates presents the informative program, “Need a Lift?” on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2:30 p.m.

          Lisa Gorelick, RN and owner of Healthier Home-Healthier You, returns to Chai Point to share mindful health tips with residents on Thursday, Jan. 22, 1:30 p.m. Do not wear fragrances to this presentation.

          On Tuesday, Jan. 27, 3:30 p.m., Carole Carter from Home Instead Senior Care presents “Go Safe.” The program will explore the latest technology to keep our older adult family members and friends safe wherever they may go.

          Rabbi Marcey Rosenbaum of Congregation Shalom facilitates Bible study on Thursday, Jan. 29, 10 a.m.

          The month closes with a “Deep in the Woods with Lumberjacks” program on Thursday, Jan. 29, 1:30 p.m.
