Something fishy will be going on with a couple of programs at Chai Point this month.
On Thursday, Dec. 4, 1:30 p.m., Eric Leaf, director of development of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s School of Freshwater Sciences, will speak about this department and the value of Lake Michigan in our community.
Kim Wall, president of Baensch Food Products, will tell the history and story of Ma Baensch Herring on Friday, Dec. 5, 1:30 p.m.
The annual Cantorfest begins Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1:30 p.m., with Hazzan Jeremy Stein from Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid. Cantor Lauren Philips of Congregation Sinai takes the stage on Thursday, Dec. 18, 10 a.m.
Cantor Karen Berman of Congregation Shalom visits on Monday, Dec. 22, 10:30 a.m. Cantorfest closes on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1:30 p.m., with Cantor David Barash of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.
All concerts take place in the Rubenstein Pavilion.
On Thursday, Dec. 18, 7 p.m., the Milwaukee Jewish Community Chorale will perform a variety of traditional and contemporary Jewish choral music.
Chai Point’s New Year celebration begins Wednesday, Dec. 31, 6:45 p.m., with the Alte Actors (Old Actors). The group of residents performs under the direction of Nancy Weiss-McQuide and accompanied by pianist Alla Lebin.
The party continues Thursday, Jan. 1, 2 p.m., with the duo Jazz Friends, comprising keyboardist Sam Steffke and vocalist/bassist Debi Kossoris.
