Greenfield Institute topic is “Jews and Their Neighbors”

          The 15th annual Greenfield Summer Institute of the Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will be devoted to the theme “Jews and Their Neighbors.”

          The institute is scheduled to take place Sunday, July 13, through Thursday, July 17, at the UW-Madison’s Fluno Center, 601 University Ave.

          The event will begin with a dinner at 6 p.m. on July 13. Topics presented by scholars from UW-Madison and elsewhere will include “Food and Identity in Judaism, Christianity and Islam;” American Jewish peddlers and shopkeepers; Jews in Shanghai, China, during World War II; American Jews and Prohibition; and more.
