On May 4, religious school students at Beth Hillel Temple in Kenosha celebrated Yom HaAtzmaut (Israel Independence Day). The kids created a flag of Israel in the synagogue’s backyard after learning about the creation of the flag and the meaning of Israel’s national anthem, “Hatikvah” (“The Hope”). The students also did a brief Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) moment of silence, using a siren blast from the internet, before beginning festivities. Photo provided by Rabbi Dena Feingold.
