Milwaukee-native Commissioner of Major League Baseball Allan H. “Bud” Selig was honored by the Philadelphia-based National Museum of American Jewish History on May 13.
He was feted at the museum’s New York City gala celebrating the museum’s new exhibition “Chasing Dreams: Baseball and Becoming American.” The exhibit runs through Oct. 26.
Selig was named the ninth Commissioner of Baseball in 1998. He has presided over the creation and development of MLB Advanced Media, MLB Network, and the World Baseball Classic, all of which have expanded the reach of the game. He plans to retire upon the completion of his current term, which runs through Jan. 24.
