Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle freelance writer Amy Waldman has won a Simon Rockower Award for Excellence in Jewish Journalism for an article she wrote for the paper in 2013.
According to an email from the American Jewish Press Association, which runs the award, Waldman won a first prize for Excellence in Personal Essay for her article “Suicide leaves more questions than answers.” The article appeared in the November 2013 Chanukah magazine.
In addition to writing for The Chronicle, Waldman is coordinator of the ACCESS Program for Displaced Homemakers at Milwaukee Area Technical College. She also recently completed a Master of Library and Information Science degree at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The Rockower Awards will be presented at the AJPA’s annual meeting, to be scheduled later this year.
