Shir Hadash will honor Brusins

          Congregation Shir Hadash will honor Sandy and Rabbi David Brusin for their 21 years of service to the congregation on Saturday, May 31, 6:30 p.m., at North Shore Country Club, 3100 W. Country Club Dr. in Mequon.

          Rabbi Brusin will be retiring as of June 30. He came to Milwaukee in 1986 to work in the Milwaukee Jewish Day School as director of Judaic studies. He left the school in 1993 and in that year became spiritual leader of Shir Hadash. He has also taught at Ripon College, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Cardinal Stritch University.

          His wife Sandy, nee Rubinstein, is assistant director of first-year composition at UWM. She has directed the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center’s early childhood program and taught adult education at the JCC’s Florence Melton program. Sandy also ran Shir Hadash’s family education program. (See her Hineni article on page 20.)

          The event will include cocktails, dinner and dancing, with music by Robin Pluer, with Julie Wood and Mrs. Fun.
