The Jewish Museum Milwaukee has scheduled several events in February linked to its exhibit of Andy Warhol’s series “Ten Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century.”
On Thursday, Feb. 6, 11 a.m., James Yood, professor of art history and criticism at the school of the Art Institute of Chicago, will speak about “Andy Warhol’s Minyan: Reconsidering His ‘Ten Portraits of Jews of the Twentieth Century.’” Cost is free for museum members, $5 for non-members.
On Friday, Feb. 21, 11:30 a.m., the museum will host a lecture and luncheon with J. Gordon Hylton, professor at the Marquette University School of Law. He will discuss the subject of one of Warhol’s portraits in a lecture titled “Of the People, for the People: The Legacy of Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis.”
Admission of $12 for museum members, $18 for non-members, includes a kosher box lunch. RSVP deadline is Feb. 13. This event is co-sponsored by the Cardozo Society of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.
On Thursday, Feb. 27, 5-8 p.m., the museum will host a screen-printing workshop. It will take place at RedLine Milwaukee, 1422 N. Fourth St., Milwaukee, and will be taught by Kim Weiss, RedLine’s print shop manager. Cost is $45 per person, RSVP required, limit of eight people.
The museum will also present a “Family Art Day Screen Printing Workshop” on Sunday, March 2, 1:30 p.m. Participants will be supplied with everything needed.
Cost is $15 per family for members, $25 per family for non-members, with RSVP deadline by Feb. 21.
