Northwestern Mutual is honoring Highland Park Wealth management advisor Steven L. Braun with membership in its 2013 Forum group, which recognizes individuals for an outstanding year of helping clients achieve financial security.
Braun is affiliated with The McTigue Financial Group, based in Chicago. This is the 15th time that Braun received the Forum honor. He is the son of Ruth Braun of Milwaukee.
The honorees were recognized at a conference held on Nov. 3-6 in Scottsdale, Ariz. The Forum conference is an exclusive achievement, with approximately five percent of Northwestern Mutual’s more than 6,500 financial representatives invited to attend.

Gimbel to join father’s law firm
Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin and Brown LLP (GRGB) on Nov. 1 announced the addition of attorney Joshua Gimbel. The Milwaukee law firm was founded in 1968 by Josh’s father, Franklyn Gimbel.
Formerly a partner at Michael, Best & Friedrich, Gimbel’s practice focuses on commercial and corporate litigation, land use and zoning, real estate and municipal law. He also represents developers and individuals in special and conditional use permit approvals, zoning changes, and developer agreement negotiations.
He has been recognized in the area of commercial litigation by Woodward/White’s “The Best Lawyers in America,” and was named by the same publication as one of its “Lawyers of the Year.”
He is currently president of the Gene & Ruth Posner Foundation, chair-elect of the Jewish Home and Care Center, and a board member with the Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin and the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation. He is also a trustee on the Public Policy Forum.
Michael Koren, a seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher at Maple Dale Middle School, was named the recipient of the Mel Miller Award for outstanding leadership in the social studies field.
This national award is given by the National Social Studies Supervisors Association (NSSSA) and will be presented at the national conference later in this school year.
Koren was named Outstanding Middle School Teacher of the Year by the National Council for the Social Studies in 2010 and an Herb Kohl Scholar in 2008. He is in his 34th year of teaching middle school social studies. He is also a board member of the Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies.
