Robin Hessman, director of the documentary film “My Perestroika,” will appear to discuss her film after a showing on Monday, Dec. 9, 7 p.m., at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Union Theater.
This event is part of the series “Art & Conflict: Ashkenaz and Beyond” sponsored and organized by UWM’s Sam & Helen Stahl Center for Jewish Studies.
The 2010 film follows five Russians, one of them Jewish, as they live through their country’s transition from the Soviet Union to post-Communist Russia.
The film has won and been nominated for numerous awards nationally and internationally, including Best Documentary at the 2010 Milwaukee Film Festival and a 2012 Peabody Award.
