While anti-Israel groups are mounting a boycott-divestment-sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel, the African Christian Democratic Party in South Africa has organized an opposing effort.
It calls this effort Defend-Embrace-Invest-Support-Israel, or DEISI.
The party was founded by Rev. Kenneth Meshoe (pronounced “meh-shway”) in 1993, and he remains president of the party and a member of South Africa’s National Assembly. Moreover, he and his wife, Lydia, organized an Africans for Israel Rally in 2012, attended by some 2,000 people.
The couple is being brought to Milwaukee by the Israel-support organization StandWithUs and by the World Outreach and Bible Training Center.
They will speak on Sunday, Nov. 17, 9:30 a.m., at the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2419 E. Kenwood Blvd.
Admission is free. For more information, contact Peggy Shapiro, SWU Midwest community coordinator, 224-392-3264 or PeggyS@StandWithUs.com.
