Milwaukee native Ilan Eckhardt, 19, has been making a splash in Israel’s popular music scene after an appearance on the Israeli television show “Rising Star.”
After performing on the show on Oct. 13, he received not only approval from the judges but also a feature article in the Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz on Oct. 17.
Eckhardt is the son of pianist Chana and Cantor Joel Eckhardt. He plays guitar, sings and composes songs. According to the Ha’aretz article, he had been a student at the Otniel Yeshiva, but left to make his next appearance on the show.
He also told Ha’aretz that he is living with cousins in Efrat and has begun “the aliyah [immigration to Israel] process.”
