‘Secrets of City of David’ to be topic

          Israeli historian-tour guide-archeologist Shahar Shilo will give a presentation on “Uncovering the Secrets of the City of David” on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 7 p.m., at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Union Ballroom West.

          The City of David is Israel’s name for the oldest settled section of Jerusalem, located due southeast of today’s Old City. It is believed to be the section of the city that King David captured and made his capital during the 11th century B.C.E.

          Shilo currently serves as director of marketing and strategy for the Biblical City of David in Jerusalem, and is a Ph.D. candidate at Haifa University. He has spoken in Israel, the U.S. and Canada on biblical archeology and other topics.

          Admission is free and light refreshments will be served. The event is sponsored by the Israel Center of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and co-sponsored by the Israel Ministry of Tourism and the Milwaukee Area Biblical Archeology Society.
