The 11th annual Mussar Kallah, sponsored by The Mussar Institute, will take place at the Illinois Beach Resort and Conference Center in Zion, Ill., Thursday, Oct. 17, to Sunday, Oct. 20.
The theme of the retreat is “Relationships.” The kallah will include interactive learning, contemplative practice, collective exploration, prayer and celebration.
The event is open and suitable to those with some familiarity with Mussar. Teachers will include Shirah Bell, Alan Morinis, David Jaffe, Micha Berger, Avi Fertig and Chaim Safren.

Mussar (morality or discipline, Proverbs 1:2) is the Hebrew name of a Jewish ethical, educational and cultural movement that began in 19th century Eastern Europe. The Mussar Institute, according to its website, seeks to impart “wisdom and tools for character development ground in Torah and the classical Mussar tradition.”
