A work by Israeli composer Rami Bar-Niv will be one of those featured in the Concord Chamber Orchestra’s opening concert this season.
The work will be a setting of Holocaust poetry, “Longing for My Father,” by Israeli poet and survivor Jacob Barzilai.
The concert will take place Saturday, Oct. 26, 8 p.m., at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 1615 Wauwatosa Ave., Wauwatosa. General admission is $18, $12 for seniors and students.
Other works on the program include Wolfgang Mozart’s overture to his opera “Don Giovanni,” Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 100 and contemporary Australian composer Sean O’Boyle’s “Conflict, Sadness, Victory and Resolution.”
Jamin Hoffman is the orchestra’s music director. Guest artist for both Bar-Niv’s and O’Boyle’s works will be soprano Suzanne Kompass. Both composers are scheduled to be present for the concert and for a conversation with the audience during intermission.
