In June, the Sarah Chudnow Community will be providing musical entertainment and other performances in various media.
These events are in addition to continuing programs that include yoga, mahjong, weekly movies, outings, and health and wellness activities. All programs listed are open to the community.
On Sunday, June 2, 3-4 p.m., Julie Thompson will perform selections from “Songs from the Heart” and her new CD, “Reverie,” as well as selected numbers from the musical “My Fair Lady.”
On Sunday, June 9, 2-3 p.m., Gary Wisner returns to Sarah Chudnow. He will be “Singing the Classics” with musical selections from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Andy Williams and Bobby Darin, among others.
On Wednesday, June 12, volunteer coordinator Beth Draper gives a presentation on “Volunteering: Give Back, Get Back.” Learn about the rewards of being a volunteer as well as the many different kinds of things a volunteer can do.
On Sunday, June 16, 2-3 p.m., the program will be “Classical and Jazz Piano with Shino.” Shino Scholz will play classical selections from Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy, and jazz favorites from Gershwin, Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett.
On Wednesday, June 19, 2-3 p.m., Rose Schwartz, vice president of the Falls Patio Players, presents “On the Road Theatre Talk,” a program on how theater productions come to fruition.
Twice a month, Lisa Gorelick, RN, brings information on “Healthy Living” to Sarah Chudnow residents. She will be visiting on Friday, June 14, 11:15 a.m., and Saturday, June 22, 2:30 p.m.
Lately, the news has been filled with information about genetically modified organisms. On Saturday, June 22, Susan J. Riegg, M.D., will speak about bio-engineered food and nutrition.
On Sunday, June 23, 2-3 p.m., Kids Korps will perform. It is a dance troupe of students aged 8-16 who perform fast moving, fully costumed dance routines that have been choreographed by the Rockettes, the precision dance team that performs at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
