Yom HaAtzmaut

The Milwaukee Jewish community’s celebration of Yom HaAtzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day, took place at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center on April 21. It began with the annual Walk for Israel, this year along Santa Monica Blvd. in Fox Point. Highlights of the walk included remarks by Roey Gilad, Israel’s Consul General to the Midwest, shown at the microphone with Milwaukee Israel emissaries Michal (left) and Ro’ee Peled; a flag dance performed by Milwaukee Jewish Day School students; a huge puppet “Benji Yisrael” created by Jeffrey Holub and operated by his son Jacob inside with Josh Sager and Logan McDermott operating the arms.
