Louis M. Hammes

          Louis M. Hammes of Glendale died Jan. 25 of heart failure. He was 84.

          He was born in Marinette and graduated from high school there. He served in the U.S. Army, and moved to Milwaukee in 1948.

          He married his wife Jacqueline (nee Barry) in 1954. He worked in the home improvement field for United Building and Supply.

          He was a member of Temple Menorah for 46 years and of B’nai B’rith for more than 50 years. According to his family, he was a “man’s man” who enjoyed golf, cards, the Green Bay Packers, and traveling.

          He is survived by daughters Machelle (Robert) Schnoll of Bayside and Randee (Howard) Solomon of Coral Springs, Fla.; son Jeffrey (Linda) Hammes of Glencoe, Ill.; brother Philip Hammes of Chatsworth, Calif.; siblings-in-law Robert Hirsch of Chicago, Dorothy (George) Martinek of Milwaukee, and Donald Kramsky of Thiensville; and eight grandchildren.

          Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home handled arrangements. Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer officiated at the funeral on Jan. 28. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.

 
Jodi L. Heyman

          Jodi L. Heyman, nee Atinsky, of Eden Prairie, Minn., died March 23 of complications of leukemia. She was 45.

          She was a Milwaukee native who graduated from Nicolet High School in 1985. She also attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Cardinal Stritch University, earning an undergraduate degree in science education and a Master of Arts degree. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

          She was a teacher in the Eden Prairie School District.

          She was a member of Bet Shalom Congregation in Minnetonka, Minn. A breast cancer survivor, she was active in the Komen Race for the Cure and the Eden Prairie Relay for Life.

          She is survived by husband William Heyman; children Cassie Heyman and Blake Heyman; parents Charlotte and Harold Atinsky; brother Kevin Atinsky; mother-in-law Kathleen Heyman; and brother-in-law Bob (Trisha) Heyman.

          Hodroff-Epstein Memorial Chapels handled arrangements. Rabbi David Locketz officiated at the memorial service on April 3.

Barton M. Peck

          Barton M. Peck of Milwaukee died on Jan. 9. He was 75.

          He graduated from Washington High School and earned his undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He worked as a labor attorney.

          He was a member of Temple Menorah and served as its president. According to his family, he enjoyed writing poetry.

          He is survived by wife Alice Peck (nee Suesskind); daughters Lauren (Allan) Woodrow of Vernon Hills, Ill., and Susan (Zachary Semler) Cohn of Milwaukee; sons Jeffrey (Michaela) Peck of Milwaukee, Michael (Sharon) Peck of Milwaukee, and Jeremy (Elizabeth) Cohn of Arizona; brother Robert (Carol) Peck; and nine grandchildren.

          Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home handled arrangements. Rabbi Gil-Ezer Lerer officiated at the funeral on Jan. 11. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.
