Israeli archeologist Moshe Fischer will speak at the next meeting of the Milwaukee Area Biblical Archeology Society on Monday, March 18, 7:30 p.m., at Wisconsin Lutheran College.
He will discuss “Herod’s Legacy: A Workshop for Royal Architecture and Art.” According to a release, Fischer’s talk “will examine the ways in which architects, artisans, and artists working for Herod facilitated the amazing building projects… that are the centerpiece of his fascinating rule” as Roman Empire client king of Judea, 34-4 B.C.E.
Fischer is director of the Yavneh-Yam excavation and co-director of the Yavneh Map Archeological Survey. He is an expert on marble and statuary and the author of several books.
