Humanistic Judaism rabbi to speak

           Rabbi Adam Chalom of Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation is slated to appear in Milwaukee on Sunday, March 3, 4:30 p.m., at Bucketworks, 706 S. Fifth Ave.

          He will discuss the topic “You Don’t Have to be Religious to be Jewish.”

          Kol Hadash describes itself on its Web site as “the only full-service Humanistic Jewish congregation in the Chicago area.”

          Chalom has been rabbi of the Kol Hadash since 2004. He earned his ordination from the International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism and a doctorate in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan.

          Humanistic Judaism was founded in 1963 by Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine, originally of the Reform movement.
