MJF plans security training event

The Milwaukee Jewish Federation continues to assess and upgrade security at MJF-owned properties, as well as consulting with other statewide Jewish agencies.

“Visitors to our buildings have already begun seeing some physical changes to our facilities. More improvements are planned, though many of the changes will not be visible,” said Ari Friedman, the MJF’s director of community properties.

According to Friedman, increased vigilance is an important complement to the physical and procedural changes that are underway. To that end, Friedman is encouraging members of the Jewish community to attend a security training event that will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

The security training is based on the national “If You See Something, Say SomethingTM” public awareness campaign, which helps individuals learn to identify and report suspicious activity.

Participants will receive practical training by law enforcement personnel. Identifying potential problems in the workplace, handling suspicious packages, and procedures for contacting appropriate authorities are among the topics to be covered.

This free event, which is being organized by the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, will take place Wednesday, Feb. 13, 9 a.m.-noon, in the Community Hall of the Harry and Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center. All adults are invited to attend.

RSVP by Friday, Feb. 8, by sending an email to seesay@milwaukeejewish.org.
