The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation on Dec. 18 urged community members to sign a petition in response to the mass shooting that killed 26 people, 20 of them children, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., on Dec. 14.
“We are signing the linked petition from our national partner, the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, calling for comprehensive reforms to end gun violence and ensure access to mental health care for all who need it,” the JCRC said in a statement signed by chair Joyce Altman and director Elana Kahn-Oren. “We ask you to sign it also.”
“With a concerted effort from all of us, we can demonstrate our community’s resolve against gun violence and avoid a return to complacency,” the statement reads.
The statement gives the petition’s location online as www.endgunviolencenow.org.
