Letter: Many colors make up the Jewish rainbow

I have to say that I really liked the Editor’s Desk column in the November Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle.

Even in non-election years (although it seems as if it is always an election year in Wisconsin), there are too many assumptions that “all Jews are liberals and therefore vote Democrat.”

In my position, I try to make a concerted effort to avoid discussing politics and am always surprised at how readily and easily people will assume that I vote one way or the other when no one actually knows what my personal beliefs are.

The animosity and tension that is created between liberal v. conservative, Orthodox v. Reform, and everything in between is unnecessary and destructive to the fact that we are all Jews and should be respectful of one another and to engage in dialogue rather than throw insults and call names.

Thanks for reminding everyone that there are many colors that make up the Jewish rainbow.
