In the “Editor’s Desk’’ column of the November Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle, editor Leon Cohen requests that readers share their perspectives on issues, to attain community inclusivity.
Yet he assigns the disparagements of being “cranks” and “disagreeable” to those who deviate from the politically and religiously liberal Jewish majority, despite their being respectable members of our community.
Such denigration and name-calling are difficult to reconcile with his quest for inclusivity, and would also seem to violate the calls for civility our community organizations and leaders are frequently reminding us to adhere to.
