As part of its series about “Extraordinary Heroes: Holocaust Rescuers,” the Nathan and Esther Pelz Holocaust Education Resource Center will show the film “Empty Boxcars.”
The screening is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 4, 7 p.m., at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, 6255 N. Santa Monica Blvd.
The documentary film tells the story of Bulgaria’s role in the history of the Holocaust, which included the rescue from the German Nazis of some 50,000 Jews. The event will include a talkback with the film’s producer and director, Ed Gaffney.
