The Cancer Support Community Greater Milwaukee will present “Ask the Expert: Genetic Risk for Ovarian and Breast Cancer” on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 6:30 p.m., at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center.
The featured speaker will be Angela Thompson, certified genetics counselor at Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin.
At this free lecture, according to a release, women will learn the basics of genetic mutations, how they contribute to cancer, what genetic testing can determine, and when genetic testing might be appropriate.
This information is especially critical for Jewish women of Eastern and Central European descent, said the release, as they are more likely than the general population to carry a genetic mutation related to increased risk for breast or ovarian cancer.
To register, call 414-962-8201, ext. 102.
