The Milwaukee Repertory Theater will perform the famous Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett dramatization of “The Diary of Anne Frank” Oct. 23-Dec. 2.
The play is based on the true story of the Dutch Jewish teenage girl (1929-45) and her family as they hid from the German Nazis from 1942 to 1944, before they were betrayed. She died in the Bergen-Belsen camp in 1945, but her father survived to find and publish the diary that Anne kept during the time in hiding.
Preview performances will take place Oct. 23-25, with opening night on Oct. 26. Several shows will include post-performance talkbacks, including one featuring Jody Hirsh, Judaic educator at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, on Sunday, Nov. 11, after the 2 p.m. matinee.
All performances will take place in the Quadracci Powerhouse at 108 E. Wells St. For more information and tickets, call 414-224-9490 or visit www.MilwaukeeRep.com.
