Jewish Community Pantry receives two grants

The Jewish Community Pantry recently received two grants.

The Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun Salinsky Program to Feed the Hungry has granted the Jewish Community Pantry an award of $8,000 for use for an appliance and kosher food.

The second grant is from Milwaukee Empty Bowls, which celebrates area artists and chefs while raising funds for Milwaukee’s hungry. This year, the Jewish Community Pantry is one of the eight 2012 grant recipients.

The Milwaukee Empty Bowls will host its event on Saturday, Oct. 13, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Milwaukee Area Technical College Oak Creek Campus.

The Jewish Community Pantry is co-sponsored by the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center and the Women’s Division of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation. It is part of the Emergency Pantry Network of the Hunger Task Force. Located at 2930 W. Center St., it is open every Thursday and the third Sunday of the month.
